While I’m not usually a fan of the New York Times, this article about cleavage wrinkles certainly caught my attention. I’ve have multiple ladies over the years come in asking me how to treat this problem. Truly it usually has nothing to do with small to modest sized breast implants and is more of a problem with with larger, natural breasts that hang low on the chest wall. The larger and more droopy the breast, the more they tend to cause these “cleavage wrinkles.” Larger and larger implants can start to cause the problem but this is certainly not a problem only causes by implants per se but by larger breasts in and of themselves, a point which the article does not make.
Taffy Brodesser-Akner discusses some treatment options including moisturizers, positioning devices/pillows, and even fillers. In my NJ plastic surgery practice that mostly focuses on breast surgery, I have had occasion to use fillers in just the way she describes and it works well. She draws attention to an issue few think about.
