Pink Gloves

Saturday, October 15th, 2011 at 11:00 am | Posted in Breast Surgery

As you are likely aware, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Many pink ribbons are around this month to bring heightened awareness to this cause.

Despite advances in treatment, breast cancer is still the most common cancer in women other than skin cancer. One in 36 women die from breast cancer and it is only second in cancer deaths in women to lung cancer.

Early diagnosis and aggressive treatment has been the most positive factor in improving outcome. Self breast exams and mammograms are stressed as extremely important.

We have “Pink Exam Gloves” in the office for the second year. Last year we posted an article on my NJ plastic surgery website discussing the gloves. A portion of the proceeds of the sale of these gloves is donated to Breast Cancer causes.

If you are in to see us this month and notice the gloves, this is why we have them….

Steve Jobs, RIP

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011 at 8:11 pm | Posted in Uncategorized

Tonight the world was told that Steve Jobs passed away. Pancreatic cancer is a terrible disease which few have survived. He stepped down from Apple in August, and this was unfortunately only a matter of time.

I remember my first Apple computer in 3rd or 4th grade. First I had an Apple II, then a Macintosh, then an Apple IIci in college (with a color monitor and printer!!!!) Since then I have had so many Apple notebooks, ipods, iphones, ipads, and technology that I have enjoyed from this visionary!

I don’t write about people passing often, but Steve Jobs is truly a man who changed the world of technology and will be missed. May his family know a little comfort in the gratitude, respect, and sadness of so many of us in his passing….
